Abstract: Taking Astragalus L.as test materials,the effects of different substrates to seed germination and seedling growth of Astragalus L.were rexamined.The results showed that vermiculite and 1:1 of vermiculite/coconut coir had a significant effect on germination rate which was 74% and 72% respectively; vermiculite,peat,1:1 of vermiculite/coconut coir and 1:1 of vermiculite/peat had significant effect on root length,leaf area,fresh weight and plant height.To be specific,the greatest seedling root length was 7.88 cm in 1:1 of vermiculite/coconut coir,maximum fresh weight was 0.186 g in vermiculite,and the highest plant height was 6.04 cm 1:1 of in vermiculite/peat,indicating the vermiculite and coconut coir were the most suitable substrates for seed germination and seedling growth in Astragalus L..
