Abstract:
The objective of this study was to explore the temporal and spatial distributions of soil moisture content in the compound ecosystem with sand and meadow in the Songnen Plain. The soil moisture contents of 0-300 cm soil depth from May to October in sand, meadow, and middle regions were measured using the oven dry method. Results showed that the average soil moisture contents in different position in the compound ecosystem of sand and meadow were significantly different with the trend of meadow>sand land>middle. The stratification of average soil moisture contents in different positions was found within 0~300 cm soil depth. The average soil moisture contents in sand and middle position were divided into two zones at the depth of 100 cm.The average soil moisture content of sand increased in 0-100 cm soil depth, and declined in 100-300 cm soil depth. The average soil moisture content of middle decreased in 0-100 cm soil depth, and increased in 10-300 cm soil depth. The average soil moisture content in the meadow was divided into three zones by the depth of 30 cm and 150 cm,which quickly increased in 0-30 cm,while declined in 30-150 cm,and then increased in 150-300 cm.Monthly dynamics of soil moisture content in different parts of compound ecosystem of sand and meadow was very obvious. The average soil moisture contents of sand (50-70 cm) and middle area (0-30 cm) in September and October were obviously higher than other months. Results from this research would be helpful in exploring the regulation of water-salt transport, and preventing and utilizing saline soil resources in the Songnen Plain.
